Added value starts in the soil. 🌱
Following TerraSil, this week we introduce TerraKal: our mineral soil improver and pH regulator based on natural calcium silicate.
Today, Van Eijck applied TerraKal at Alphaplants. A practical application in tree nursery production, where an appropriate soil pH and mineral availability are important for the next crop.
What does TerraKal bring to the soil?
• It helps neutralise soil acidity and supports soil pH management.
• Natural weathering gradually releases calcium and plant-available silicon.
• This combines pH management with the supply of minerals for soil and crops.
Climate impact matters too. When TerraKal replaces carbonate-based lime for pH correction, CO₂ emissions associated with the reaction of that lime in the soil can be avoided. Natural mineral weathering can also contribute to CO₂ removal. The net climate benefit depends on soil conditions, application and emissions across the supply chain.
TerraKal is CE-marked and included on FiBL’s Dutch Input List for use in organic farming.
